The Love of My Life

ha, don't be fulled by the heading. But definitely, a good book is the love of my life! The anticipation when an eagerly awaited book is finally out and I can get my trembling hands on its brand new, drool worthy cover is worth every moment of the pure agonizing wait.

My heart pounds in excitement and I practically want to scream with the joy of finally being able to read it. Little shivers literally run up my spine and its ecstasy in pure undiluted form. Nothing can compete with the joys of a new book, one I have been totally and obsessively awaiting. No male in this world can even compete. Romance between the sheets (pun intended) and better than in real. You may think its sad, but what you think ain't my problem!

I am planning a date with my fifth book in JR Wards Brotherhood of the Black Dagger. Yep, a date where neices and nephies have no way of interrupting with no one at home to bug me and where I have my book and Vishous, protag of Lover Unbound all to myself. And of course on my sunbed and between the sheets (in real) .

Exam Stress

Ha...the exams are around the corner with PSLE next week and I am totally BUMMED OUT! Nope, not with bumming around, rather with the amount of work I had to do prepping my students for the big E.

Situation has gone critical, so much so that I have four students back to back on some days with barely enough time to travel from one place to another. And not with public transport either. I've been also having a headache the last couple of days. Either its from overwork or from the bad weather, or maybe just plan unsatisfactory sleep. I'll be glad when its all over. Poorer but relieved. Rest is essential and I would love to have a solid week off from working.

Yea, people think tutors have an easy life and admittedly, its not as stressful as working full time in schools. But its still not entirely easy. Still have to contend with unmotivated kids and their worried parents. BAH!

Seeing the Goodness in People

I was travelling on BUS 176, quite absorbed in my own thoughts and daydreaming when I noted the amount of people on the BUS. Both teenagers and older folk. It was somewhere in the afternoon and a weekday to boot, so the crowd surprised me.

What was more surprising, I noted that several of the teens (young men) attempted to give up their seats when the old folks boarded the bus. The scene is so rare (to me) that it stayed on my mind since. It's evidence that the younger generation isn't all lost to self-absorped 'me me me' syndrome so common in Singapore.

Then there was the other day, on the same BUS 176, where the bus driver was SO nice! One of the passengers couldn't find his link card and when he finally did, the driver let him drop off at the traffic light, even though the bus was already past the stop. Same driver also reminded an elderly couple with their grandson, which stop to alight.

It made my day just to see such kindness extended to others!

P.M.S

Yeppe, the dreaded word, the one every male in the Universe associates with a woman's mood swings and erratic behaviour. The one thing every man uses as a joke/excuse/explanation when they can't figure out what the hell is going through a woman's mind. (I believe its now considered sexual harrassment to even make such jokes....)

To me, PMS isn't so much a medical term as a state of being. Permanent Moody Syndrome. I become anti-social, my temper's like a steadily burning fuse that explodes when triggered and I just want to stay at home and wallow. I start bingeing like there's no tomorrow and midnight snacking is a norm. Basically my life takes the fast route to hell and every silver cloud begins having a doomsday lining. To make matters worse, I get hives every time I so much as touch anything with prawns, shrimp or seafood (sans fish thank GOD). I don't even have to eat them, just have them associated with watever I am eating.

I never used to have cramps during THAT TIME OF THE MONTH, but now I get it during PMS! Bloating, flatulence, blah blah blah. I can't wait till the whole darn thing is over. If only I could stay home until it is...but no work = no marnee. DARN!
